     Mr. James Benton graduated from West Texas A&M University with a bachelor in Music degree with an emphasis in teaching in 2004 and from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA with a Masters of Music degree in Performance in 2007. While in high school Mr. Benton was a member of the All-Region band, Area band, first alternate to the All-State band, and was awarded the John Philip Sousa Outstanding Musician Award.

     Upon graduating from high school, Mr. Benton marched with the Phantom Regiment, a consistent DCI World Finalist. After graduating from WTAMU, Mr. Benton also taught on staff with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps in 2005.

     Mr. Benton has served as an assistant band director at Midland High School, Director of Bands at Corrigan-Camden ISD, and Director of Bands at Columbus Junior High School. And most recently, he was the Assistant Band Director at Floresville High School.

     His professional affiliations include the Texas Bandmasters Association, the Texas Music Educators Association, the Association for Texas Small School Bands, the International Tuba Euphonium Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Kappa Kappa Psi band fraternities.

Mr. Garza instructs the jazz band and oversees the percussion activities for the East Central ISD.

Before becoming a band director, Mr. Garza served as a percussion consultant and kept a private lesson studio, along with teaching middle school and high school percussion classes and marching percussion in the San Antonio area.

He received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Texas State University-San Marcos where he was a member of the Bobcat Marching Band, PASIC Drumline, Salsa Del Rio Latin-Jazz Ensemble, the Panorama Steel Drum Band, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity.

Mr. Garza’s professional memberships include Percussive Arts Society, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and he is an endorser for Innovative Percussion, Inc.

Ashley Roberts received her bachelors degree in music performance from Stephen F. Austin State University where she studied with Dr. Christina Guenther. While living in East Texas, Ms. Roberts was an active flute teacher and performer in the Nacogdoches community. She held the position of 3rd flute and piccolo in the former regional Orchestra of the Pines from 2008-2009. In 2011, Ms. Roberts completed her masters in flute performance under affiliate artist of flute Jennifer Keeney at the University of Houston.

Ms. Roberts has toured with groups throughout Texas and performed with ensembles at the Texas Music Educators Association, Louisiana Music Educators Association, and Colorado Music Educators Association Conventions. As a member of the UH Wind Ensemble, she had the opportunity to record a CD for Naxos, Symphonies for Wind Bands, in 2011.

After completing her Masters at the University of Houston, Ms. Roberts obtained her teaching certification in the fall of 2011. The following spring, she was hired as the adjunct beginner flute teacher at Victory Lakes Intermediate School in League City, TX. While living in Houston, Ms. Roberts taught private flute lessons and master classes throughout the greater Southeast Houston area. In 2013, she became an Assistant Band Director at East Central High School in San Antonio, TX.

Ms. Roberts is a member of the Houston Flute Club, National Flute Association, Texas Music Educators Association, and Texas Bandmasters Association. Ms. Roberts lives in San Antonio with her husband and two furry family members, dog Brody and cat Piper.

Mr. Esperiqueta began playing trombone in the St. Luke's Catholic School Band.  He continued onto the Mighty Button Band at Central Catholic High School under the direction of Mr. Arnoldo Garza.  After high school graduation, Thomas attended Boston College where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Music.  In college, Thomas participated in Marching Band, Concert Band, Pep Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra, and Choir. He had many opportunities to travel around the nation and Europe with these musical organizations.

After graduation he returned to San Antonio and attended the University of Texas at San Antonio for his Teacher Certification.  During this time, Thomas began teaching Colorguard at Central Catholic High School, Providence High School, McCollum High School, Boerne High School, O'Connor High School, and Alamo Heights High School. A few of his teams became State Champions with the Texas Educational Colorguard Association.

Mr. Esperiqueta went onboard with the San Antonio Independent School District in the Fall of 2004 as Band Director at Page Middle School where he spent 2 years.  He spent 1 year at Rhodes Middle School before moving on to Burbank High School in 2007.  During his tenure at Burbank he has built a Colorguard program, Mariachi program and International Baccalaureate Music class.

Mr. Esperiqueta is a member of the Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Educational Colorguard Association and the San Antonio Symphony Mastersingers. 

On the side he runs a business, Marching Solutions, that helps other band directors with colorguard choreography, colorguard design, marching band drill and Winterguard design.  He enjoys spending time with family, friends and his two dogs, Trombone and Laquinta.
